Small and senior, on purpose.

eDentaa exists because a lot of good businesses are stuck with software that nearly works, and the usual options are a large agency that bills for coordination or a cheap vendor that bills twice. We wanted a third option: a small team of experienced engineers who take the whole job.

What being small actually buys you

No account manager sits between you and the person writing the code. No junior developer learns the trade on your budget. A decision that needs three people in a large agency needs one conversation here, so it happens the same day rather than the following fortnight.

It has limits, and we say so early. We take on a small number of projects at a time. If our next window does not suit your timeline, we tell you at the first call instead of stretching to fit and disappointing you in month three.

What we believe about building software

  • Understand the job before designing the system. Most bad software is a correct implementation of a misunderstood process.
  • Ship something usable early. Opinions formed in front of a working build are worth more than opinions formed in front of a document.
  • Write down the decisions. The reason behind a choice is more valuable in two years than the code that implements it.
  • Boring technology, chosen for who has to maintain it. Novelty is a cost you pay later.
  • Say no to work we would do badly. It is the cheapest form of quality control there is.

How the week runs, and when we overlap

We hold a working overlap with US Eastern hours through your morning and with UK hours through your afternoon. Calls sit inside that band. Outside it, you get written updates rather than silence: a note at the end of each day we work on your project, and a fortnightly build.

How the work is organised

Engineering

Writes the software, reviews each other's work, and joins your calls. Whoever builds a component explains it, so you are never told “I will have to check with the developer”.

Delivery

Keeps scope, sprints and communication honest. Runs the fortnightly demo, maintains the decision log, and tells you early when something is drifting.

Quality

Testing on target hardware and networks, accessibility and performance checks, and the release process. Not a separate department, but a distinct responsibility on every project.

We list roles rather than people. You will meet the individuals working on your project on the first call, which is more useful than a page of photographs.

The fastest way to judge us is to make us answer a hard technical question.
