Terms of service

These terms and your contract
These terms cover use of this website. Project work is governed by a separate written agreement covering scope, price, timeline, intellectual property and liability. Where the two differ, the project agreement wins.
Intellectual property in project work
Software we write for you is yours. Repositories are created in your organisation at the start of the engagement, not transferred at the end. Third-party libraries remain under their own licences, and we list them so you can review them. We keep no claim over your data, your designs or your domain knowledge.
Scope and changes
Fixed-scope work is quoted against a written specification with stated assumptions and exclusions. If a change falls outside it, we tell you before doing the work and you decide whether to proceed. We do not invoice for work you have not agreed.
Payment
Projects are billed in phases against agreed milestones. Retainers are billed monthly. Invoice terms are stated in the project agreement.
Ending an engagement
Either side can end an engagement with written notice as set out in the agreement. You keep everything delivered and paid for to that point, including repositories, environments and documentation, and we will brief whoever takes it on.
Website content
The illustrative situations, timelines and estimator ranges on this site are indicative and are not offers or guarantees. They exist to show how we think about a piece of work. Anything binding is written into a proposal.
